Snap! Crackle! Pop! Wonderful, OS X 10.4.10 now powers off the external audio ports when not in use causing external speakers to pop immediately before and then shortly after isolated system sounds (like new mail chirps). This proposed fix doesn’t work—but youngman’s does. And I’m left humming YMCA. Bastards.
