Still Life (Rug)
Written around February 2006
The second track off the The Lovely Life EP. Originally named Rug, you changed up the title to fit in with the rest of the track listings on the EP. This song is a conversation with someone who let you down, a conversation with someone who you let down and a conversation with yourself. It’s also 19 tracks of happy accidents.
You’ve got yours
but you want mine
oh it’s alright
I don’t mind, mind, mindTake what you want
cause you’ve got what you need
but what you’ve got,
is only what you took from meand everyday you take more and more
its one and one for you, so few for me
you knock me down and leave me on the ground
you use and use me up, one day I’ll finally see
you for you, and the rug you’ve made of me
and I’ll crawl, I’ll crawl out from under your feetyou’re let down,
and I can’t help
but feel I’m some how
to blame for now, now, nowand everyday it takes more and more
I run and run for you, it’s not lost on me
that we knock you down and tower smug and proud
we used and used you up, one day you’ll finally see
the truth for the truth, you made your bed, now sleep
you’ll fall, you’ll fall, till you wake between the sheetsand everyday you take more and more
its one and one for you, so few for me
you knock me down and leave me on the ground
you use and use me up, one day I’ll finally see
you for you, and the rug you’ve made of me
and I’ll crawl, I’ll crawl out from under your feet.
